Connections Project

Our class have been very lucky to have local artist Bridget Townsend invite us to join her as part of her "Connections Project".  She has been working with a group of elderly artists at Culliford House Residential Home in Dorchester.

Bridget came into school and introduced us to some of the artists she works with.  They are all aged between 74 and 102.  Each artist had taken a "selfie" with their name and what they like doing on to say 'hello' to us.  The children were lucky enough to be able to take some pictures of us saying hello to them so Bridget could show them.  Even Mrs Milner and Mrs Upward joined in.

Everyone brought in a special item from home and drew pictures and wrote about them.

Today 10 representatives from our class went off in the minibus with Miss Moscrop and Mrs Hargreaves to visit the artists at their home.  We were all treated to juice and biscuits, had time to chat, read stories and even play a parachute game.

This Thursday, we welcome Bridget back to school to do a portrait painting session with the whole class.  All of our photos and artwork, alongside that of our elderly artist friends will be displayed at an exhibition in the Autumn.  How exciting!

We love to learn!

Well done Year 2.  You have come back from the Easter holidays with a fantastic attitude to learning.  It's been only one week and a day and we have done so much. All your teachers are very impressed!
